| S.G. "Buddy" Williams, THE ROPEMAN We would like to bring your attention to the "Ropeman." Buddy Williams has been known to the agricultural and manufacturing industry as the "Ropeman" for years. In the last several years he has brought his knowledge and entertainment to this region's State and County Fairs, Branson MO, Dogpatch AR, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge TN, the Sedgewick County's Olde Cowtown Fair, various local celebrations and to such groups as State Scouting Conventions, Centennial Celebrations, etc. The Ropeman has always offered quaint humor, a smattering of magic and folklore of the pioneering of rope-making and it's uses from Bible times up through today. All of this comes with the opportunity for the public to see how rope is made and to actually make lariats, jump ropes, etc., on antique machines dating back to the early 1800's. Very often this is the only hands-on craft offered at a fair, and you take home something you've made yourself! The Ropeman displays many antiques involving rope as he explains to the younger generation all of the things rope was used for in the development of this country, and brings back memories for the older generation! Children of all ages return year after year to step back into time with this traveling peddler. Crowds are always found at this booth, and are always hard to dispel at the end of the day. |
