"THE PITFALLS OF SUCCESS"
From experience, we can often predict the success or failures of associates
as "Custom Rope" dealers. The "road to success" is quite simple, as there
are only four commonly encountered problems. Listed in order based on
the frequency of occurrences, they are:
1. IMPROPER DISPLAY
Custom Ropes have always sold well...when displayed well! When displayed on bottom shelf, sales are only
25% compared to sales of rope displayed on the rack. Their unique color draws attention. This lends itself to
impulse purchase.
2. LACK OF PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
As a result of our direct sales to the retailer, the Custom Rope will retail at approximately 70% of the price of it's
competitor...Nylon. Cable or chain of comparable tensile strengths is so much higher that they don't merit
discussion. As far as we can determine, this is the only towing device on the market with an unconditional Repair
Warranty for the life of the rope. Repair Warranty claims are handled by a local dealer, or direct to the factory, at no
charge for repair , only freight. Safety.... The Custom Rope was the only rope milled for the sole purpose of
towing. Other ropes are made from bulk spools of "whatever" and made into towing devices. Starting out with a
towing device in mind, controlling the stretch, and using attachments for what the rope is meant to be used for, we
make it safer. While it will stretch, it does not stretch to excess like nylon!
Therefore, it has substantially less recoil should the rope break, or cut, while under tension.
NOTE: While we believe the Custom Rope to be one of the safest towing devices on the market, the is no
substitute for the use of good judgement! Nothing is safe if it is improperly used, or the use exceeds design
limits. While the Custom Rope is one of the toughest known, it, like any rope, can be cut if improperly used or
attached - and, we can build the exact rope with the proper attachment for your specific needs! The Custom
Rope will not rot and requires little care. It is impervious to weather and all known chemicals.
3. LACK OF SALES EFFORT
Nothing sells itself...at least not initially! Even essentials such as grocery items are introduced on television, by
newspapers, etc. You will have to make the first few sales, but after awhile, word of mouth takes over.
Remember...ask your customers to buy. You may rest assured that if you don't, they won't!
4. GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS
There are a few areas that have not been introduced to tow ropes. In these sections it is extremely important that
you explain the advantage of rope and ask your customer to buy. Even so, initial sales may be slow, but again, as
the Custom Ropes are used, sales will begin to multiply as a result of word-of-mouth advertising.
